Primates & Small Mammals in Yala

Common troops, and two of the hardest animals on the island to find.

Grey langurs and toque macaques are part of the furniture in Yala: you will see troops on the tracks, in the trees and occasionally on the jeep's bonnet.

The prizes are smaller. The golden palm civet and the red slender loris are both here, both nocturnal and both genuinely lucky finds — worth knowing about so you recognise one if your driver stops for no obvious reason.
